September already?

I'm baffled that it is September 1st today, not sure what happened to August, or July or June for that matter...time seems to be moving very quickly these days! 21 days and it's officially Fall. my favorite season by far, cooler weather, football, crisp air...just a comfortable season.
This Fall for us brings my second year at school working on my Masters degree. I'm doing the online program with CSU Global, so far I like it it's time consuming but I can learn on my own time instead of having to sit in class a couple of days a week. Which basically means when kids go to bed I go to work...trying to stay off Facebook and tune out the TV all at the same time.
Blake will be 4 months old this month, I can't believe how big he is getting. Such an awesome little boy, his laughter and big sweet smile is contagious! He's a very happy kid almost all the time, he makes my heart burst with love btwn him and Kaitlyn life is complete!
We are kicking off Septemeber with a trip to Denver, thanks to my awesome parents we will be spending 4 days and nights back "home" seeing friends and relaxing! The CU/CSU football game, GO RAMS!!, is on Saturday and we will be watching the game and celebrating Kylee's 28th birthday with a party! Last year was madness a fun day, just 3 days before we found out Blake was joining our family :) This year I don't think I will be climbing on any roofs...

With that I bid the blogging world adieu until Tuesday...but will be back with some pictures from our adventures in Denver!

sniffles...

My wonderful hubby had the man-flu this past weekend...really it was a bad cold but you know how men get, woe is me I'm falling apart, life is over, etc, etc.

He seems to be over it today...so Sat, Sun, Mon
Right now I have a bit of a headache and the sniffles...we're supposed to leave for Denver on Thursday
I hope I'm not getting his crud
cause I'm Mummy which means I don't have time to get sick!
Especially not when we're getting on a plane soon and have a fun weekend lined up...
as soon as Teen Mom is over I'm climbing into bed! Hoping Blake cooperates with me and sleeps well tonight...though he's been snoozing in the swing for 3hrs so I'm nervous that he's going to want to play in a few hours...
SIGH

I will not get sick, I will not get sick, I will not get sick!!

MOPS

Tomorrow is our first MOPS meeting...I've never been before and not sure what to expect. I've been researching the group philosophy; "MOPS is a diverse group of women who all have something in common-a preschooler, age conception to 5 years old. The purpose of MOPS is to nurture every mother by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ. We seek to do this through fellowship, friendship, education and mentoring by experienced moms."
Tomorrow is the kick off party at the Presbyterian Church, a catered lunch with fun water play activites for the kiddos. Our new friend Jen and her kids are meeting us there. There is a nursery for kids 0-12 months, I'm still undecided if I want to send Blake or not...I think tomorrow until I get comfortable with the ladies and find out/meet the people who watch the babies,  I will keep him by my side :)
MOPS website
I'm hoping the group is fun and welcoming (I have yet to find anything in the South that isn't) and we can plan on this as a consistent activity. The group meets twice a month, something that will be a nice play date for Kaitlyn and a good adult breather for me!

Blake's Birth Story

4 days away from my little man turning 3 months and i'm finally sitting down to write this out...
and 15 days away from his 4 month birthday I'm finishing it! :)

From about 24 weeks on I had braxton hicks, not something I'd ever experienced with Kaitlyn. They were uncomfortable and annoying. The week of April 26th I lost my mucus plug and got excited, I was 2 cm and so ready to be done! May 7th was my last day of work and I kind of hoped I didn't make it that long...well May 7th came and went and I was officially a stay at home mummy and ready...
May 11th I had bloody show, called the nurse line in a bit of a freak out as to what was going on she said it could be any moment or a few days...well ugh another sign that we were on the way but not quite there...
May 13th my 39wk and 2 day appt. Membranes stripped, 4cms and my OB, the wonderful Dr. Celnik said she was on call that night and might see me...
Uncomfortable braxton hicks all day...finally around 1pm after timing them for a few hours of being 10 mins apart I called the nurse line and they said come on in...yay...maybe...
We dropped Kaitlyn off at Kylee and Andrews and headed to St. Joe's, checking in around 3pm the starting place was full so they sent me upstairs to labor and delivery and into a room. The nurse checked me and I was still at 4cms...so off to walk the halls we went...up and down the stairs and around the hallways, having the people in the ER stare at this large waddling lady in a gown walk up and down the stairs 55 times! Went back and was checked again after about an hour and half...still at 4cms GRRRRRRRR but in more pain!! Sent off to walk the halls AGAIN...came back at 7pm to a new nurse and well still at 4cms but more more pain, she went to talk to my dr. who was now on duty...the concensus was to either take a morphine drip to help with the pain and go home or get some pictocin. Without much of a second thought I said definitely pictocin, I'd walked the halls for freaking 4 hrs, my legs hurt, braxton hicks hurt, I was READY for this kiddo to arrive. The next question was do I want the epidural before pictocin or later...ummm again no second thought definitely wanted the epidural! As they were hooking me up for the fluids my braxton hicks definitely became contractions and started hurting a lot...eyes closed/deep breaths/ice chips!

The IV was next, my god do I hate needles...but even more do I hate IV's, apparentely I have crappy veins! First IV went in my right arm and blew the vein OUCH, nothing quite like blood running down your arm  :( next attempt was into my wrist on my left hand, it HURT to put it mildly...but didn't blow so we were good. Contractions were hurting a lot now...my anethesiologist was on his way, my new best friend!

Epidural went in about 9pm, thank you the good Lord! Pain decreased, however I felt suddenly sick (possibily since I hadn't eaten since about noon) and couldn't stop chattering my teeth! lots of ice water/ice chips and blankets later I started to feel better and relaxed...around 5cms at this time

Watched TV for a bit, rested my eyes...around 10:30pm I was at a 7cm

11:30pm I felt a pop and gush (even with slightly numb legs)

my water broke on it's own!!

10cms and ready to go...the room and bed was prepped

midnight

push, push, push, push, hold, push, push

12:28am, Friday May 14th, 2010 welcome to the world Blake Andrew
